Graduation


Grad lists are posted and updated on SchoolZone. In order for a student to participate in graduation activities, they must have the following requirements met:
  • Minimum 100 credits and all Alberta High School Diploma requirements scheduled within the 2010-2011 school year for completion - this may include a registration confirmation for a summer school course in August 2011
  • 90% Attendance record
  • No outstanding school fees

GRADUATION PICTURES

Students must schedule an appointment for their photos in advance - appointments can be made in the ACCESS room between October 25-29 either before classes (8-9 a.m.) or during the lunch break.

LifeTouch will be in the school November 15-26, 2010 to take graduation pictures in Rooms 292 and 293 in the tower. Proofs will be available for pick up December 15, and 16 in Room 292.

Retakes will be January 5, 6, 7, 2011. Appointments for retakes can also be booked in the ACCESS room either before classes between (8-9 a.m.) or during the lunch break from December 13 to16 2010.

Only pictures taken during this time period, through LifeTouch, will be in the yearbook and on the composite poster. Composite posters will be available to all graduates at the end of June 2011.


 CLASS RINGS
Jostens Canada will have a complete selection of class rings on display November 17-19 and November 25-26, 2010. Catalogues are currently available in the General Office.  Jostens will be in the school on Wednesday, March 09 and Thursday, March 10  for any students who missed purchasing a ring in November.


CAPS AND GOWNS
Cap and gown rentals orders will take place during the week of April 4 - 29, 2011 - the rental fee is $50. Gowns will arrive to Jasper Place School and be distributed Thursday, June 23 and on Friday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to12:00 p.m. in Room 188.  Gowns and stoles must be returned to the coat check, in the main lobby at the Northlands Expo Centre, the night of the commencement exercises.

Gown measurements are being taken between February 22 - 25  by the Grad Council members at the Grad tables in the main hallway. If a Grad has missed this opportunity, please see Mrs. Warrington in the Administration Office.

Grad gown pick up is Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23 in Room 188.


GRAD FASHION SHOW
The Grad Fashion Show will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Gym. Students who are interested will be invited to an information meeting in early January. Fashion Show tickets are on sale now at the grad tables in the main hallway. Tickets are also available in the General Office.


COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER
Graduation is just around the corner and we are going to be doing a fundraiser in order for you to earn free Banquet tickets. Our frozen cookie dough is conveniently pre-formed and packaged in 3 lb. boxes and we have formed the dough into 36 LARGE frozen cookie pucks.

The way to earn free Grad tickets is easy. For every 11 boxes of cookies/muffins you sell, you will be given 1 free ticket to the Grad Banquet. This is a great way for you to keep your costs for the evening down. People love to support great organizations and they will support you, usually by buying more than one box! Ask your parent's to help you by taking a form to their offices and selling some to their co-workers! Have fun selling and remember to have your forms and money turned in to the office no later than Thursday, March 17th. You may accept cheques and they should be made out to Jasper Place High School. When you turn in your forms by the above date, then you can tell your customers to expect their cookies about 2 to 3 weeks later. Watch for signs as to when delivery day will be!

 

GRAD CLASS CLOTHING
Sweats, hoodies, etc. are on sale in February and March at the Grad tables in the hallway. Get your order and money in by Thursday, March 10.

 

ONLINE TICKET SALES
DEADLINE EXTENSION: Grad Ticket Reservations and Sales open online Monday April 4th at 4pm and close Tuesday May 31st at 5pm. A credit card is required. If a credit card is not available to make this purchase, please contact Mrs. Jillian Marino, Assistant Principal in the Administration office for cash or debit purchases.

Ticket for Commencement, gown rentals, and the Grad Banquet will be available online from April 4-29. Commencement tickets ($5 each) and gown rentals ($50) can be purchased here. Banquet tickets ($75 each) can be purchased here.

As of April 4 you will be able to buy an unlimited amount of Grad Banquet and Commencement seats! With this system you are able to organize your friends and family into tables of 10 maximum (although you will probably want to do that before the 4th, seeing as the tables are going to go fast!). When you see a table you find desirable, simply click on said table and add the names of the people you want to join you. Payment can be made by Visa and MasterCard. If a credit card is not available for payment, please see Mrs. Marino in the Administration Office.

 

TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS
Auditions will be held on Monday, February 28, Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 in Room 482. For full instrumental bands, auditions will be held on Wednesday, March 16 in Room 687. The Talent Show will take place on Friday, March 25 during Block 3 and 4 in the East Gym. Tickets are $2.



COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES
Tuesday, June 28, 2011
Edmonton Expo Centre at Northlands
Grads are expected to arrive at 5:00 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Students are not required to pay a commencement fee to participate in the ceremonies.

A professional photographer has been contracted by the school to take pictures of the students as they cross the stage. To ensure that all graduates and their families enjoy the ceremonies, photographs may only be taken from seats. Tickets for this ceremony can be purchased here.

 

GRADUATION BANQUET AND DANCE
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
Edmonton Expo Centre at Northlands
Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.

Tables are set in rounds of 10. Grad banquet tickets will be on sale April 4 - 29 and can be purchased here. Jostens will be available in the foyer to take formal family or group portraits throughout the evening on Wednesday, June 29 - Edmonton Expo Centre at Northlands.



ENTERTAINMENT
Students will be invited to audition for a chance to perform at either the Fashion Show, Commencement, or at the Banquet and Dance. Auditions will take place in early April. Watch JP TV for updates!


VALEDICTORIAN
The Valedictorian is a student selected by Aministration for their demonstration of high academic achievement combined with involvement in athletic, leadership, and/or other extra-curricular activities throughout their high school career.


CLASS HISTORIAN(S)
Class Historians are selected by the Grad Council to review the past three years at Jasper Place High School. This speech is presented at the Banquet and Dance.
